Services: Call for artists and community laboratory organization

LaRU – Urban Regeneration Laboratory is a project developed by Kallipolis, an association for social development and support based in Trieste and Turin, founded in 2006 to improve the quality of life in human settlements in Italy and abroad.

By involving people living in that territory, LaRU focuses on those processes that can contribute to the improvement of the urban space, from a physical point of view and also in terms of cultural consolidation of the people living in that space, especially in marginal areas.

Kallipolis has involved Creaa since 2018, for 3 editions of the project, with the aim of including community activation dynamics in these processes through the intervention of professional artists. Creaa handled the writing of the call for artists, the selection of the applications, the composition of the jury, the curatorship of the artistic section and the project research.

Artists were asked to discuss how creativity, together with ideas and practices related to everyday life, could be rethought in order to activate citizenship in the regeneration processes of the suburbs, developing proposals for participatory workshops lasting one or more days in the cities of Casarsa della Delizia, Gorizia, Marano Lagunare, Monfalcone, Muggia, Palmanova, Pordenone, Tolmezzo, Trieste and Udine.
